Is Morning After Pill Advisable Post A Medical Abortion?
Hello. I recently had a medical abortion about one month ago (tomorrow). It was deemed successful. It was also recommended to me that I could wait to take my contraceptive pill until I got my next period. I am very worried that if I have unprotected sex now or until I start my mini Pill that I will fall pregnant again. I was wondering if I needed to take the morning after pill if that could really disrupt my body or potentially be harmful? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Following abortion, it would be advisable to take precautions in case you do not want to get pregnant. Immediately after abortion, until you get your periods, it would be advisable to take precautions such as use of condoms or spermicides when you are having intercourse. If you are having unprotected intercourse, there seems to be no harm in taking morning-after pill. Following its intake, you need to get your periods within 3 weeks. Hence, your period dates could change accordingly as to when withdrawal bleeding would take place. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
