Is Mucolite Effective For Cough And Congestion In Toddlers?
Hi, my son is 2.7 years old with 13.2 kg weight. He is suffering from cough congestion since last 2 days due to which some times fever also come up. Doctor has advised to give S-mucolite for cough. I am confused whether S-mucolite is right choice as I have read that S-mucolite should not be given to child under 4 years of age? Instead to give mucolite that will break down the mucus into the stomach. Thanks for answering.
thank you user for your query as per your doctors prescription your were given smucolyte syrup which is actually a mucolytic, which means that it breaks down mucus and liquifies it.which later on can be easily voighed out. But since your child is just 2.7 years old so as per my opinion you should give mucolytic as your child won't be able to cough out.Instead you can start azithromycin syrup , and any brochodilater syrups as that might reduce the infection and also causes dilatation of your chest so that your child can breath during night too. Kindly give paracetomol syrup to your child for fever as to when it is required. Kindly consult any local paediatrician and mention to what I have prescribed.
