Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was switched from attenolol 25mg to nadolol 20mg due to a shortage of attenolol. I take the beta blocker for migraine management. Will nadolol work the same in migraine management as attenolol? Since the nadolol tabs are scored, can I split them and take 10mg instead for migraine management until attenolol becomes available and I can return to using it?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Both these drugs are from beta receptor blocker group. So you can take Nadolol until Atenolol available. It's not advisable to take half dose of Nadolol. The drug is effective when it is taken at its indicated dose. Nadolol is effective when taken at 20 mg dose.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
