Is Nitrocontin Effective In The Treatment Of Low Blood Pressure?
60 year old diabetic male, elective angioplasty in ostial LAD with one stent and another 60% blockage in distal LAD with good flow ( determined by FFR ). No angina , EF-60% . After 1 year all the tests are normal , TMT shows reversible ischemia in later stages. The cardiologist has added nitricontin 2.6 mg but the patient has serious low bp 80/40 mmHg ,right after first dose and continuing . Is nitrocontin beneficial in this case considering low bp?? Thanks in advance !!
Nitrocontin 6.4 MG Tablet helps to widen your blood vessels allowing the increasing flow of blood to your heart muscle.
So instead of low blood pressure, Nitrocontin is given in high blood pressure and low blood pressure may be one of its side effects.
The dose that the doctor has given is for the reversible ischemia. But if his blood pressure is in the range of 80/40 mm Hg, the cardiologist should be consulted.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care

Is Nitrocontin Effective In The Treatment Of Low Blood Pressure?
Hi, No, Nitrocontin does not treat low blood pressure. Nitrocontin is a kind of nitrate that is mainly prescribed for chest pains such as angina. Also known as Nitroglycerin,it is used to cure heart failure, high blood pressure, relief from chronic anal fissures and control of blood flow during the course of an operation.
