Is Nuvigil a narcotic? My pharmacy was concerned about filling the prescription I had from my late summer appointment (I just finished the samples provided by my doctor and now need to fill the script). They said a narcotic prescription is only "good" for six months and (since my insurance company wants me to get a "prior authorization, even though they have filled the Nuvigil for me before), the doctor will have to write a new prescription and we'll have to wait until the prior authorization goes through to fill it.
Its used to improve wakefulness in adults who experience excessive sleepiness due to one of the following diagnosed sleep disorders: obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), shift work disorder (SWD), or narcolepsy.
Please inform your doctor about all of your health conditions including if you have: history of mental health problems (including psychosis), heart problems or had a heart attack, high blood pressure, liver or kidney problems, a history of drug or alcohol abuse or addiction, or are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
