Is Nystatin The Right Medicine For Vaginal Yeast Infection?
Hi I ve been struggling with vaginal yeast infections off and on recently but after recent anal sex with my husband I now have what appears to be an infection around my anus. Small yellowish postules that itch and are painful but no discharge. Extreme pain and some bleeding during bowel movements. Have been trying Nystatin for several days but it does not appear to be helping. What should I do?
Nystatin is an antifungal medication. Nystatin topical is not for use to treat a vaginal yeast infection. Miconazole cream will help treat a yeast infection. Fluconazole which is a prescription pill for yeast infections is also effective. Most women only require a single dose of the medication to clear their yeast infection.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Prabhash Verma,
