I am on the Fentanyl patch, 25mcg every 2 days as my main source and for hreakthru, 15mg of Oxycodone. My doctor is changing my 15mg of oxycodone, 5 times, every 4 to 6 hours as needed, to 5mg of Opana, 4 and 1/2 times every 4 to 6 hours as needed. He is making this change because I am not getting the quality is relief I had gotten for the 7 years l had been on it. I had it upped from 10 to 15mg a year and a half ago. My doftor said that even though Oxycodone and Opana are both from the same family, namely both are Opoid, your body becomes inmune to the one and tneeds a change to another strand. He said that Opana is 2 to 3 times stronger than Oxycodone. Before making switcswitch, is this right? What is the scale for the 5mg of Opana?
