Hello,

Most cases of Parkinson disease are sporadic, which means that there is no genetic link to the disease. However, there is increasing evidence that genetic factors play a role in the pathogenesis of PD, particularly when the age at symptom onset is younger than 50 years.

More men than women get Parkinson disease, especially at older ages. Parkinson disease is rare, so if you do indeed have Parkinson disease, it would likely be genetic.
