Hi, I am a nursing mom and took 2 tablets of pepto bismol around 9am. I almost immediately threw up. I waited and took 1 tablet at 7pm right before nursing my 11month old son and then took 2 more tablets around 8pm. I realized it was not safe for nursing moms at that point. My son only nurses twice a day and won't nurse again until around 5 am. Will it be safe to nurse him at that point or should I pump and dump? He was not sick or running a fever when he went to bed at 7pm. Thank you.
Pepto bismol is a brand name of bismuth salicylate. It is not recommended in breast feeding as t is secreted through breast milk and cause harmful effects to baby. However nothing will happen in case you had fed the baby one or two days. No need to pump and dump and you can continue breast feeds as usual.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
