Is Powergyl Syrup The Right Medicine For Loose Motion In Babies?
Hi Doctor, My daughter is 1 year old and she got loose motions for 4-5 times by now. As her doctor is not in the city I asked a chemist and he suggested me powergyl syrup. I just want to know if this is the right one to go for or you suggest any other medicine. Thanks, Bhupender Agarwal
Understanding your concern. As per your query your baby have symptoms of loose motion which seems to be due to acute gastroenteritis. It is due to viral infection and disturbed metabolism of body. Need not to worry. Avoid intake of any outside food. Avoid sharp and spicy food substances. Take diet rich in multivitamins. I would suggest you to take acetaminophen for fever in dosage of 15mg/kg. You should them plenty of fluids to rehydrate. Visit pediatrician once and get it examined. You should get blood tests done of children to find out underlying cause of fever whether bacterial or viral and start treatment accordingly. You should take fluoroquinolones. Powergyl syrup is recommended for diarrhea in child.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
