Is Prazosin An Approved Medication For Nightmares?
I have nightmares that result in both screaming/yelling/cursing to physical execertion/fighing. I have been diagnosed with REM Behavior disorder by a sleep specialist. I take cardizem 300 mg for high blood presure. He is giving me clozanapam (sp) mg which has reduced the fighting somewhat but occassional reoccurance. An RN friend who works on a psyic ward recommended i ask for Prazosin. To my knowledge i do not have PTSD. I wear a CPAP for sleep apena. What are your thoughts on the the Prazosin?
hi thanks for using HCM. Prazosin is FDA approved for management of Hypertension but it is used off label for PTSD related nightmare. ask your psychiatrist friend to evaluate you for PTSD symptom , if you suffer from them , then Prazosin might help you. prazosin is not approved for REM sleep behavior disorder. thanks
