Is Prednisone Harmful For A Person With Thyroid Disorder?
Hi I have tonsillitis and congested sinuses. He didnt check if it was viral or bacterial. He Just looked in my throat and ears. my doctor prescribed a z pack and Perdnisone 20 mg, the steroid to be taken 2 days 2 tablets daily. I took the 2 pills of Perdnisone at once together with food. I have an under active thyroid and I'm very concerned about the side effects this can give me. I read that people with thyroid disorder shouldn't take Perdnisone. Please help! My doctors office isn't open now.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern....
Prednisolone taken for a shorter duration of 2 days will not be harmful to you. Only long term use of prednisolone is harmful. Tonsillitis is mainly due to bactereial infection, so your doctor has given you Zpack (azithromycin). he has given prednisolone for reducing the inflammation.
So you should take the medicines as prescribed by your doctor.
Don't worry you would be fine Hope this information helps.
