General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Prednisone is a corticosteroid which can be used in managing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). But it should be used judiciously by your treating physician as steroid can give benefit as well as harm. For getting remission or managing acute condition in COPD corticosteroids are indicated. Inhaled corticosteroids are preferred over oral or intravenous. But if this is not effective intravenous or oral can be used.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
