Prednisone, has anti-inflammatory effects and is therefore discussed as adjunct treatment for lung inflammation, especially in critically ill patients,
immunodeficiency or in patients with other concomitant diseases.
There are a lot of studies which have shown that the recovery time of this patients with lung infection , treated with prednizone +antibiotic is shorter than in those who were treated only with antibiotics.
But on the other hand, are also known the side effects of prednizone and
steroids in general.
