Is Primolut Effective In The Treatment Of PCOD And Irregular Periods?
Hi I m 26 yrs old and a diagnosed case of polycystic ovaries with irregular periods My doctor suggested I take primolut for 5 days to get my period I would also like to get pregnant soon as I have been married for 8 months n we have been trying for a baby Can I still get pregnant while taking primolut?
Hi & Welcome to HCM. I can understand your concern.
Yes Primolut N (Norethisterone) is safe and effective in the treatment of PCOD to regularize the menstrual cycles. It should be used long time for about 6 months mainly in second half of cycle to regularize the period. So do not worry, you are on right treatment.
You need to consult a gynecologist and go for following lab tests that help in management of case: Reproductive hormone analysis: LH, FSH, prolactin, E2, Progestreone, Testosterone and DHEAS, USG scan, ovarian follicle study, blood glucose, insulin and lipid profile.
Your doctor may also prescribe Metformin along with Primolut-N to maintain glucose homeostasis, increase insulin sensitivity and induce ovulation.
Hope this answers your query. Best wishes. A feedback is appreciated.
