Is Progesterone The Right Medicine For Ovarian Cyst?

My wife and I have been married for 18 years now and had no children. She is 46 yrs old and had regular menstruation eversince. Her last menstruation is NOV 2015 and for the first time, been delayed for 2 months. Pregnancy tests are negative and transvaginal ultrasound showed left and right ovarian cysts and myoma and thickened lining of the uterus. She was given progesterone drugs to induce menstruation but she s been bleeding for 8 days until now. Another ultrasound revealed that left ovarian cyst and myoma has disappeared but the lining of the uterus is still 1.0cm thick. Is RASPA procedure the only way to stop the bleeding? If the bleeding stopped without RASPA, is it still necessary to perform RASPA? Thank you in advance...

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think she should get checked by a gynecologist to evaluate the myomas and cysts. Myomas are most likely to cause the bleeding. RASPA is necessary.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
