Is Progynova Effective In The Treatment Of Infertility?
Hi, have come across a prescription for progynova and endometrin that my doctor wrote when we werw going to do egg donor. That didnt happen, but wondering if it may help me to ovulate. Have had mixed info from google. I am 50 years old now had 4 mc s in last 7 years. According to a period app, lm supposed to ovulate some time in the next week but not sure if l even do anymore. Would it hurt to take 2mg daily and if not, when could l start?
Progynova contains estradiol which is a hormone that the ovaries produce during the ovarian cycle in a productive female. Together with progesterone (another hormone ovaries produce), help prepare the uterus for a possible pregnancy and this may be the reason why the doctor gave it to you while awaiting an egg donor. Taking Progynova will not help you ovulate and get pregnant so it is not recommended to be taken. It may increase the risk for side effects form unopposed estrogen if you use it long term and without a previous consultation with a doctor. If you would like to know if you can ovulate or not you can have the test called antimullerian hormone which checks the ovarian reserve function.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
