Hi,

Prolia is preferred over HRT for osteoporosis. There is a risk of breast cancer and venous thromboembolism (clot formation in the leg veins) associated with HRT in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis hence Prolia is a better choice. Injection Prolia given once every 6 months is effective in preventing fracture of the spine and hip associated with postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
