Is Provera Advisable For Treating Hormonal Imbalance?
hello i am 42 yrsold, my last menstruation was last december 20, 2014 i got a check up from my ob gyne she as checked with the ultra sound i am not pregnant maybe its a hormonal imbalance but she prescribed provera 10 mg for 10 days .. is this safe?
hello and welcome Provera tablets (medroxyprogesterone acetate tablet) is a progestin indicated for the treatment of secondary amenorrhea and abnormal uterine bleeding due to hormonal imbalance in the absence of organic pathology, such as fibroids or uterine cancer. it can be used to reduce the incidence of endometrial hyperplasia
it should not be used with any of the following conditions:
Undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding Known, suspected, or history of cancer of the breast Known or suspected estrogen- or progesterone-dependent neoplasia Active deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism or a history of these conditions Active or recent (within the past year) arterial thromboembolic disease (for example, stroke and myocardial infarction) Known liver dysfunction or disease Missed abortion Known hypersensitivity
