Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have stiff person syndrome and have been getting IVIG treatment but having a bad reaction. My neurologist just mentioned today that he may consider treating me with rutuximab instead since my body is reacting poorly to the IVIG. Do you think this is a good option?
IVIG is the first line treatment for stiff person syndrome (SPS) and recent studies have shown that Rituximab can be used in patients that don't respond to IVIG or don't tolerate it.
I would say that it is a good option and please follow the instructions of the neurologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
General & Family Physician
