Is Rocephin An Effective Medication For Chlamydia Infection?

I was injected with a shot of rocephin. I think 500mg? Not sure. Will that treat my Chlamydia? I was infected on Friday night, treated on Wednesday evening, then found out it was Chlamydia a week later and given the correct medicine. But 4 days after I was treated with rocophin, I was with my partner (who I didn t contract the disease from) and he rubbed his penis on my vagina. Will he get the disease if the rocephin didn t work?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The most effective treatment for chlamydia is azithromycin or doxycycline. Probably rocephine works but for us, not the preferable treatment. Do a vaginal smear before continuing the sexual relationship.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
