Is Rocephin Intake Followed By Vancomycin Advisable To Treat UTI?

78 years old diagnosed with UTI (e-coli) for first time in life , was on antibiotics Rocephin for 4 days, fever continue to come back, today changed the antibiotics to vancomycin. are we on the right track? Only heath issues is moderate dementia and BPH.

Hello,
The choice of antibiotics should be guided by the urine culture results. Often a patient is started on one antibiotic that covers most infections. When the urine culture comes back it may be changed once they know the organism causing the infection.
