Is Sertraline Known To Increase Frequency Of Epileptic Seizures?
adult daughter well controlled epilepsy on sodium valproate now being treated for depression with sertraline. it has been increased to 100mg daily. has had increase in seizure activity in last couple of weeks. no sign of any infection. can it be because of sertraline
Since your daughter is having increased seizure activity with sertraline while she was stable with sodiun valproate, you are suggested to report to the treating doctor so that the doses can be gradually tapered. Sudden stoppage of the medication can cause worse symptoms, inform the treating doctor urgently. Yes, sertraline which is an SSRI is associated with the risk of seizure in especially patients suffering from major depressive disorders.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
