Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
HI, My 25year old daughter was diagnosed with sneddons 3 years ago. Her Father has had pulminery embolism 3 times. We have just found out her grandfather had an embolism last week, they thought it was fixed but he passed away yesterday. Not sure if it was to do with the blood clot. So my questions are: Is it hereditary? Should she now go on blood thinners?
It is a sporadic condition. In few cases, it is an autosomal dominant conduction.
A person who is genetically predisposed to a disorder carries a gene (or genes) for the disease, but it may not be expressed unless it is triggered or “activated” under certain circumstances.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu, Internal Medicine Specialist
