Is Spiriva Advisable For A Diabetic Woman Suffering With COPD?

My wife has COPD, and she is also diabetic. Doctor trying many inhalers and nebulizer. At present she has prescriptions for Advair and Spiriva waiting for her to pick up one or the other. She also has scripts for albuterol sulfate inhalers. I m thinking that the Spiriva would be better because she is having problems controlling her blood sugar. It either spikes or drops (for her 90 is too low and 150 is getting too high). I m just researching for best meds for her since her young Dr. is just trying to learn her case and is extremely rushed.

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your concern with us .
In uncontrolled diabetes Spiriva is much better option than Advair . And with this phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitors also can be used which helps in decreasing the blood glucose levels and is effective in COPD being an anti inflammatory. Discuss about this with your Endocrinolist.
