Is Statin Advisable For Rapid Heart Beat And A Tricuspid Murmur?
Yes. Today I was told by a doctor I had diastolic heart failure. I have a very rapid heart beat and a tricuspid murmur. I als have low blood pressure. My cholesterol levels are borderline. He prescribed a statin drug. Is this the correct treatment
Statin is used to treat high blood cholesterol and LDL levels. It is not the treatment to control increased heart rate. Heart rate control is attained by different classes of medications like beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, digoxin, amiodarone etc depending on the cause for increased heart rate.
