I have been taking Asacol 800 mg 3 times a day for years but it has become way too expensive. I have begun taking sulfasalazine 500mg (5 pills a day) instead. Are the active ingredients in sulfasalazine similar to those in Asacol? I have Crohn s and had a resection about 20 years ago with no major problems since.
hi, yes it should give you similar benefits. it has the same active ingredients . it works better on joints if associated with crohns. the DS tablets are also available which can reduce your pill burden.
