Is Tamiflu Advisable For Flu Infection?

Hello I have had the flu for about three days now and I hae been taking over the counter medication. My doctor just prescribed me Tamiflu. I was wondering is it worth it to pay the $100 dollars for it, or should I keep using over the counter medication and wait it out?

Hello,

In simple viral fever Tamiflu is not needed and you can try over the counter available drugs like paracetamol.

As of now take paracetamol and drink plenty of water. In most cases it will settle in three to four days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family physician
