Is Tamsulosin A Good Substitue Of Flomax?

My husband had a kidney attack earlier this summer--his first ever. He is having an attack now. We have Tamsulosin HCL 1.4 Mg capsule. This is a substitute for Flomax, correct? He got these pills 6/26/16. He has 2 capsules left. Will taking one help his symptoms? The directions said take one capsule by mouth every day 30 minutes after a meal.

Tamsulosin is not a substitute for Flomax.

Flomax is a brand name of generic Tamsulosin.

Tamsulosin is a selective alpha-blocker that works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and bladder so that urine can flow easily.

It is commonly prescribed in the treatment of benign prostate enlargement.
to treat the symptoms like difficulty urinating (hesitation, dribbling, weak stream, and incomplete bladder emptying), painful urination, and urinary frequency and urgency.

Let him continue to take the prescribed treatment.

I also advise him to undergo an abdominal ultrasound scan and Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test.
