He s always had trouble sleeping and has had night terrors and nightmares his hole life. But tarzosin is for high blood pressure and enlarged prostate. Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Terazosin is a POSSIBLE 2nd line agent to treat nightmares if PRAZOSIN fails. Both typically treat hypertension as well as prostate enlargement. The original FDA work was done on PRAZOSIN by Dr. Murray Raskind from the Seattle, Washington VA Medical Center who first showed it in the PTSD Vietnam Vet population coming back from the war back in the 1980's.

Sorry to say but I think there is some mistake. Terazocin has no effect on brain or on psychiatric illnesses. It is Alpha receptor blocker helps in BPH (benign prostate hypertrophy). It is also having property to reduce blood pressure. So it is also an option in resistant hypertensive patients. But it has no role in nightmares, sleep troubles etc. So better to discuss again about Terazosin with his doctor.
