Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Toprol-XL (Extended-release Metoprolol) drug is a heart selective beta receptor blocker commonly prescribed for the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, and heart failure.
It is effective in lowering high blood pressure especially associated with increased heartbeats.
Generally, it is safe and well tolerated. However, it may cause hypotension, decreased heartbeats, cold and clammy skin, fatigue, and impotence.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
