Is Tramadol Prescribed For Chronic Pain An Extended Release Compound?

Just filled a prescription for Tramadol 50 HCL. Question: is this an extended release compound? The script is a substitute for Hydorcodon 5Mg, given for to me for chronic pain. I have been using Oxy for several years and most recently the dosage was 2/4hrs, not to exceed 8/day. I am worried that I may be facing some problems. May I have your comments? Thanks, Frank

Thanks for asking at Healthcare Magic. I read your question and I understand your concern.
Yes Tramadol has extended release forms. It is better than oxycodone as it is not opioid but opioid like. Both can relieve moderate to severe pain.
The only thing concern is not to chew or break tablet but take as a whole for extended release.
Hope it helps best.
