Is Troponin Showing 0.838 And Ischemic Changes In ECG A Cause For Concern?
my aunt had chest pain last friday that moved to her left hand. day after that we consulted a cardiologist he advised echo cardiography and ecg and troponin. the echocardiography was normal with ef 65.8%, but troponin i found 0.838 & echemic changes found in ecg . he advised my aunt to go for angiogram..? now sometimes she feels bit pain in her chest.....?
hello there, A troponin of 0.838 alongwith ischemic changes in ecg is suggestive of some degree of occlusion in the coronary circulation. The reason we do an angiogram is to estimate to what extent the blood flow is altered. A cause of concern is if the angiogram shows extensive occlusion but we are getting ahead of ourselves here . Instead its better to get the angiogram done first and then discuss possibilities.
Hope this helps, I would gladly answer any further queries, Dr Arun A
