Is Tylenol The Right Medicine For Severe Cough?

I have suddenly development a bad cough, 99. temp and think I may have a bad cold or flu. I do have a chronic cough from heart med but this is different. My question is: I recently moved to a retirement community and only meds I have available are Tylonal and coriciden for allergies. I took one Tylonal and the cough still persists and want to take a coriciden as I have runny nose, etc. I have a history of allergies so it is often difficult to determine when I am getting a cold/flu. I want to know if I should take a coridine pill in hopes of easing the symtons. Thanks

Hi,

Coricidin is having dextromethorphan (cough suppressant) and chlorpheniramine maleate (antihistamine).

So it will be best for you at this moment. Tylenol is a painkiller. It is not having any effect on cough.

So for cough suppressant or allergy, you need to take Coricidin. Also, do warm water gargles and steam inhalation 4-5 times a day.

Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated. Avoid hard to chew food, oily and spicy food. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
