Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Malik's Response
Hello and welcome,
I am sorry that you are having such a pain. Yes, Verapamil is the drug of choice used for the prophylaxis of cluster headaches. It will not help you with your current acute headache. I would recommend you to contact your doctor and get sumatriptan for acute headache management. Your headache may also be the side effect of verapamil (even though you are taking it for 2 weeks it may still cause headache). Also, talk to your doctor about decreasing the dose of Vitamin D. High dose of Vitamin D interacts with Verapamil.
I hope I have answered your question. Please, feel free to ask me more in HCM if there is anything else you need to know.
Thank you, Malik Amonov MD
