Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Viorele is a safe contraceptive option. It contains combination of
desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol hormone which prevent ovulation & therefore
pregnancy, but you have to take it before having sex to prevent pregnancy. It is usually started on 1st day of menstrual bleeding & is taken in 28-day cycles consisting of 1 tablet daily for 21 days, followed by a 7-day interval without medication.
I would like to know when she had her periods or withdrawal bleeding due to previous birth control pills. If she has stopped from previous pills in last 2-3 days & still has not had her periods, she could start viorele pill on 1st day of bleeding. there would be no chance of pregnancy then.
If she has stopped taking those pills more than a week ago & had her last bleeding in this period. She might get pregnant& Taking Viorele after having sex will not prevent pregnancy. For preventing pregnancy after having sex, an
emergency contraceptive pill may be useful in that case.
