Is WBC Count Of 7.4 A Cause For Concern While Treating Sinus Infection?

I was diagnosed with a sinus infection 2 weeks ago. Took 6 days of augmentin and used a saline rinse kit BID after the 6 days on augmentin I was coughing so hard I returned to the doctor. WBC 14.2, had chest X-ray and diagnosed with pneumonia. Received a shot of rocephin and switched to a z pack. I had blood work again and WBC went down to 7.4 I finished the z pack last Monday. I never had pneumonia before, am otherwise a very healthy 50 yr old. Is it normal to still have achy chest when I draw a deep breath or cough?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,
I understand your concern. Its due to your chest infection(Pneumonia) the WBC count raised up to 14.2. After having antibiotics it came down to 7.4, which is a normal WBC count. The achy chest may continue for 1 week after the resolution of pneumonia. Some people may feel achy pain in chest for up to 1 week after the resolution of pneumonia. No need to worry.
Thank you
