Is A 200 Calorie Slice Of Pizza The Same As A 200 Calorie Piece Of Chicken?
I am currently losing an app that is helping me lose weight. It gives me a calorie limit each day and I was just had one question. Is a 200 calorie slice of pizza the same as a 200 calorie piece of chicken? If I use the pizza for some of my daily calories, will I still lose weight?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Calorically speaking, yes they equal the same amount of fuel energy. They do not contain the same nutrients or distribution of carbohydrates, protein and fat so they may be handled by the body differently. Speaking thermodynamically, however, the calorie energy values are the same.
Your rate of weight loss is variable on more things than just the calories. The amount of sodium in the pizza may make you retain water weight. The amount you exercise during the day will affect total energy balance.
Try to eat healthy and spend your calories wisely.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
