Is A Biopsy Advisable For Intestinal Tuberculosis?
Is a biopsy required to confirm Abdominal TB? my dad had 6 liters of fluid removed from his abdomin and all scans and tests are ok except they see something on his abdominal lining. They thought it was cancer but no cancer cells found in the fluid that was removed. how is abdominal TB diagnosed?
Hello and thanks you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein and I will try to help you as much as I can with my answer. The best way is to do biopsy or microbiological analysis of abscess. Tb can be confirmed by serologic blood tests but it won't prove the exact location of Tb granulomas so it would be better to do laparoscopic or open surgery to confirm it.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
