Is A Blood Transfusion For Low Heamoglobin Before An Abdominal Myomectony Required?
Hi there, I have been diagnosed with a 5cm fibroid inside the cavity of my uterus. I have been booked for an abdominal myomectony on the 7th of July, 2016. Today they took my full blood count and shows that my haemoglobin has dropped to 7.7 from 9. My question is do I require a blood transfusion before the operation? Please answer as I m really worried and would like to know. Thank you

Hello,
I think you may need to start iron therapy. Also most probably you may require a blood transfusion before operation or during surgery. Doing the surgery is necessary because the myoma is making you loose blood.
