Is A Bruise On The Leg After An Ankle Injury A Matter Of Concern?

Hello I twisted my ankle today and had a bruise appear on my leg. I went to the walk in clinic and by the time I got there the bruise disappeared. The NP said I had a badly sprained by foot but did not see any broken bones. I ask if we should be concerned about the bruise that disappeared? and he said that it went back into the muscle. Should I be concerned?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Bruises are nothing but a collection of blood underneath the skin that develops following a trauma.

Nothing much to worry and it will settle by itself without any treatment.

As of now, you can apply ice packs for symptomatic relief, most probably it will get resolved in a couple of days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
