Is A Combination Of Ofloxacin And Ornidazole Suspension-2 Doses Of 2 Ml Each A Right Choice For Loose Stools?
Hello doctor,
My 15 months old child had some loose stools 3-4 times a day with a time interval of 4-5 hours, and i have given him an antibiotic with a combination of ofloxacin and ornidazole suspension- 2 doses of 2 ml each....Now he has not gone with loose stools anymore. Is this dose and combination of medicine a right choice as prescribed... I am scared if his motion has got blocked due to over dosage. Please advice
most of the diarrhea in children can be managed with ORS only, with paracetamol if febrile.antibiotics needed with blood in stools/high fever only...in that case too, more important thing is to maintain hydration with ORS...whether there is antibiotic or not,it will take 5-7 days for motion to be in control-but you need not worry;just replace the lost fluid with ORS.if oral intake is poor from vomiting, needs intavenous fluids, other wise, just wait. i hope you will find this information useful.wishing you a faster recovery.thank you.
