Is A Dent On A Baby S Head, Post A Head Injury, A Concern?

My 17 month old son hit the side of his head (about an inch above his left temple) on our bed frame when he bent down to pick up a toy. I noticed a small dent immediately, but he now has a bump. He did not cry for long and did not lose consciousness. He did not have any signs of a concussion. However, I m worried because he initially had a small dent. What do you suggest?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Infant skull is more malleable and dent will return to normal spontaneously.

You can consider a CT scan to rule out any possible internal injuries.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
