Is A Discharging Pus Post Testicular Surgery A Concern?

I have recently had a left testicular torsion surgery about 6 days ago, my right testicular was fixed as well to avoid future possible torsion. I have 6 stiches on each side, the two stiches in the left side are slightly swelled and pus is continually discharging from around them but little amount should I be concerned? I have an appointment after one week can I wait till then or should I contact the doctor earlier?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of left testicular torsion surgery about 6 days ago, your right testicle was fixed as well to avoid future possible torsion. You have 6 stitches on each side, the two stitches in the left side are slightly swelled and pus is continually discharging from around them but little amount should you be concerned? You have an appointment after one week can you wait till then or should you contact the doctor earlier?

Understood your concerns.
The pus coming from two stitches can be due to stitch abscess, known to occur in the scrotal region due to its typical appearance.
If you are on antibiotics and have other supportive medicines and if they are working, you may wait.
But if the pus is continued in spite medicines, you have to visit the Doctor to get another prescription for other antibiotic.
Also apply liquid povidone iodine to the whole area to kill skin bacteria which cause secondary infection.
You may need removal of the stitches so that the irritating focus is also removed and wound may get healed well.
You may please contact your Doctor earlier so that proper investigations and treatment can be started with.
