Is A Flight Journey Advisable When Diagnosed With Mastoiditis?
Can my daughter fly 4 hour flight with mastoiditis? She is taking ear drops, nose drops, antihistamine and nurofen. Her consultant says as long as she has her nose drops and pops her ear 10 minutes before take off she should be ok. She is struggling to pop her ear, using a balloon to blow.
Dear flying with mastoiditis is problematic only it may aggravate ear pain and tinnitus.
if it is compulsory she needs to start antibiotics 24-48hours before fly. need antihistamines started at least 24hours before fly. continue Valsalva manovour may helpful.earplane ear plugs are helpful, continuous chewing of gum may helpful. decongestent nasal spray also useful. if symptoms are severe better to post pone your journey.
