Is A High Level Of Keppra In The Blood Harmful?

My son takes Keppra and his regular doctor took blood and did levels and he said his level was too high, it was 90.5. His Neurologist is on leave and I wonder if this is dangerous He takes 1000mg (2) twice a day, 750mg (1) once a day and 500mg (1) once a day.

Hi,

I understand your concerns, keppra above the therapeutic dosage limit could be dangerous. if your son was on same dosage for long time and his levels are showing high right now then it could be that some other medication your son is taking is having metabolic interaction with keppra.

I would need more details about his keppra dosage for past 6 months and its effectiveness in reducing your son's symptoms(which you have not described here). Lastly, I would recommend calling your primary care provider and ask him if he thinks these levels possess any immediate threat to your son.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
