The use of the daVinci is somewhat controversial, as you hint to in your question. However, there are cases where many doctors believe that it can be very helpful and make the surgery easier to do, and thus safer for the patient. An obese women with fibroids is one of those cases where many doctors believe that the daVinci can be very beneficial; and enable your doctor to do the surgery in a minimally invasive way without having to do open surgery. Of course, every case is different, and you need to talk to your doctor about the specifics of your case. I hope this is helpful, and I hope that your surgery goes well, and that you have an easy recovery. Please let me know if you need any more information
