Is A Laparoscopic Operation Important To Treat Inguinal Hernia?

I have been diagnosed with an inguinal hernia which is not causing discomfort. The surgeon specialist is recommending that I get it repaired with laparoscopic operation. Do I need to have the surgery or can I leave it? I m 55 male, not over weight and moderately fit. Thanks

hi thanks for posting in HCM
I have understand your concern

inguinal hernia now you are not having any symptoms but as the age progress, hernia ll increase .
hernia contains intestines inside the hernial sac , if it is not repaired there are more chances for getting obstruction of the hernial contents and gangrene sometimes, it is a life threatening condition

your doctor advised you laparoscopic repair , it is better compared to open surgery with minimal bleeding and fast recovery
I can suggest you it is better to get done the repair now itself to prevent future complications

hope this helps you
thanks
