Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom has been going to a dermatologist for a few years who has been simply freezing the spots, which continue to come back. She finally went to a new dermatologist who did biopsies. All four came back positive for basal cell carcinoma. I am especially worried about a large one on her head, which has had several years to grow. She showed it to me today, I would say it’s about the size of a 50 cent piece. How dangerous is this?

Is A Large Cancerous Patch On The Head Dangerous?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Generally, basal cell carcinomas are the least dangerous of skin cancers. They rarely metastasize (spread) or become life-threatening. Anyway, I suggest you do a visit to the dermatologist for further treatment. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
