Hi I have a mark on my back had it for about 6 months my husband says it has got a little bigger so I showed it to my pharmacist today who says it looks like a type of herpes and maybe need to get it checked out I am 65 years old in good health NOT sexually active for 5 years due to husband s prostate cancer Can you help Thankyou
The usual rash of herpes is painful with blisters or vesicles and unlike to present without it. Though healed rash can present like that but usually is not silent in onset. It's better to get it reviewed by a dermatologist or share the pictures in queries directed towards dermatologist on this forum. It can be any other form of dermatitis or melasmas so it's better to differentiate before starting any medical intervention.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
